Well, I’m not claiming that I know what I’m doing or that any of this stuff is any good but I’m not going to try to know. My literary idol/hero/dreamboat lover, Charles Bukowski, had the following words enscribed on his grave: Don’t try.
What does that mean? Well, it’s exactly how I feel about life. I’m not talking about trying as in being motivated. It’s when you try ‘too’ hard. The moment you try, everything becomes bullshit. Fake, phony, insincere.
Be yourself. Write how you want to write. Don’t think about what you’re writing or your audience. Keep it raw. Keep it meaningful. Keep it beautiful (Ontario plug). Keep it realz.
